President Speaks...

Dear Friends,
‘Educate the woman first and leave them to themselves; then they will tell you what reforms are necessary for them'. - Swami Vivekananda.

What a golden (or rather silver!) opportunity it is for me to serve this prestigious club in its twenty-fifth year! This year’s theme ‘We, for women’is a truly relevant in todays’ scenario. Women power has been spoken of so many times but very little has been actually done to empower the woman! The woman finds her own space in the society through her deeds, aspirations, dreams and has carved out a niche for herself which only she is capable of. She has learnt (through very hard experiences) that it is only she and she herself who can make the change and be the change!

This year as we enter into our silver jubilee year we shall not rest on the laurels and accolades received, but also do meaningful projects specially involving girl child education, self defence tactics, vocational training for women and self help women groups. For this daunting task, the support of all my fellow members is strongly needed.

Our dream project Apnalay is now complete and the vocational training centre ‘Khushi’ is now operational imparting free computer and English speaking classes for the needy.

I thank all my members, the Past Presidents, Editor Monika, IPP Deepa, PDC Mamta Agarwal, PP Aruna Murarka and Sudha Choudhury for putting this beautiful souvenir before you. Let us keep the journey alive.

All thanks to the almighty for giving us this wonderful platform to serve. Let us all count our blessings and give back to society what we have in abundance.

Shashi Khandelwal
President
